Introducing: The Cell Probe 360

Bone marrow is a powerful regenerative tool, capable of providing autologous stem cell therapy to personalize treatment.¹ However, traditional bone marrow aspiration techniques are not only time consuming, but do not provide the highest amount of mesenchymal stem cells possible. Celling Biosciences is seeking to overcome these issues with the patented Cell Probe 360: a new take on an aspiration needle for enhancing the method of bone marrow collection. Based upon Dr. Philippe Hernigou's bone marrow aspiration technique, the Cell Probe360 optimizes the quality of the bone marrow draw.

The Hernigou aspiration method obtains 300% more mesenchymal stem cellsthan traditional aspiration techniques, making it the gold standard of bonemarrow aspiration.² In thismethod, bone marrow is aspirated in quick, short pulls. A small syringe(ideally 10 mL) is attached to a traditional Jamshidi needle and pulled backquickly until bone marrow fills the syringe to the 4-5 mL mark. Then, the smallsyringe is removed and replaced with a new one, which is again used to collect4-5 mLs of bone marrow. After the second syringe is removed, the Jamshidi isrotated 90 degrees. This process is repeated until 60 mL of bone marrow iscollected.

The Cell Probe 360 simplifies the Hernigou aspiration method,decreasing the time of the procedure as well as limiting sterile breaks. Featuringa valve system built into the needle itself, only two syringes are neededthroughout the entirety of the procedure: one to aspirate and the other to actas a reservoir. The smaller syringe originally aspirates the bone marrow duringthe procedure, and the integrated valve system allows the bone marrow to flowinto the larger “reservoir” syringe as the fluid is dispensed. As a result, thesmaller syringe does not need to be replaced and can continue to aspirate smallquantities, preventing sterile breaks during the procedure. The Cell Probe 360is also capable of rotation during use, accounting for the rotation used in theHernigou method.

The Cell Probe 360 is a new way to optimize cell therapy solutions bymaximizing stem cell recovery. It is a minimally invasive, easy to use methodof obtaining autologous bone marrow. Ask us for more information about the CellProbe 360, pending release in 2024.
