Director of Training and EducationKaty Moncivais, PhD

Dr. Moncivais joined the Celling team in 2012 and has been delivering the highest standard of scientific and technical training in the industry ever since. She discovered a love of bioengineering during summer camps designed for socially disinclined youth whose math skills were above average, and she followed that line of interest to some of the most prestigious universities in the nation. Prior to Celling, she worked on a wide variety of regenerative medicine related projects including tissue engineered, drug-eluting stents at the Texas Heart Institute in Houston, genetically reprogrammed stem cells for the study of differentiation pathways, and proteins specifically engineered to “announce” stem cell differentiation status. She has co-authored four peer-reviewed publications and one book chapter in the field of cellular engineering. Dr. Moncivais earned her Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from Rice University and her Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. In her spare time she likes to read sci-fi books, force her friends to walk “short” distances to local restaurants, and talk about stem cells with anyone who will listen.
